Welcome to d blog, also known as Dan's rant. The content herein is essentially
comprised of miscellaneous ramblings and random thoughts on the nature of
contemporary existence.
Despite the current shitstorm I forge ahead. I don't understand why shit isn't used publicly more often? I mean, we're surrounded by it, it's everywhere. Why can't we talk about it?
Good shit, bad shit, your shit and my shit. All G-d's children shit. What is this conspiracy to ban shit from the public discourse?
A wave of inspiration enveloped me as I viewed images of a helicopter lowering a red capsule containing a $3 Million ransom to gleeful pirates on the deck of a kidnapped freighter. Reality programming run amuck…..The shit metaphor continues...

….This shit was so absurd, I mean way beyond the James Bond shit that you see in the movies…so fearful of capture and I suppose the imagined loss of their individual shares of the ill gotten booty which is to say a ransom split amongst 25 yo, ho, ho and a bottle of rummies, that they jumped aboard their go fast skiff and made a balls out dash to the pirate mother ship, abandoning the kidnapped vessel without much of an afterthought. A bit too much pedal was applied as it turns out, because varying reports have emerged of the little boat capsizing and depending on which account you put faith in, between 3 and 5 of the pirates drowned… well no big loss there, pirates, shit! The emphasis on shit changes, albeit subtly the meaning.
Perhaps if we knew the backstory, the shit behind these events it would enlighten us.

Take the Compact fluorescent light bulbs that are being promoted as eco-friendly and contain more toxic mercury than their incandescent cousins…. In some states, such as California, it's illegal to throw them away; well these things and others like them are packaged in toxic cargo and dumped illicitly off the beach in, you guessed it, Somalia. What would you do or say in light of this kind of garbage assault?

People are afraid to put shit in writing, let alone say shit. I find this absurd.
We have a public corporation; Waste Management, Inc. is the leading provider of comprehensive waste and environmental services in North America. http://www.wm.com/ Yet nowhere in any of their extensive corporate information or marketing materials does the word shit appear. These people manage shit without ever mentioning it.
We must get over this reluctance and learn to embrace shit.
The title "Why Say Shit" can be understood several different ways. To recap but a few;
One inflection is suggesting a rationale for silence. Another is searching for a reason to speak at all. Yet another is the opening salvo in a discussion of curse or swear words.
This diatribe centers around the shock value of positioning. The placement of shit in polite society.
Why say shit is because we already do. Say shit so as not to kid a kidder, not to accept the chains of convention that serves merely to masquerade and obfuscate. Say shit because that’s what we really do, because that’s what it is. Really.
Shit is frequently, simply the most apropo. Saying shit is a tip of one’s hat in recognition of truth.
Kudos to those who avoid the pitfalls of stooping so low as to quantify those who got us into this shit in the first place. You know as in "piece of shit", also known as "The Count".
You can substitute the power of shit with the considered use of words such as “crap” and the even softer “stuff”. Saying shit is to say boo to taboo.
A painfully defiant and dangerous acknowledgment that so much shit has gone down that globally we are now beginning a phase of creative destruction…..

..out of which a new spirit of creativity can arise. The beautiful problem/opportunity that presents, hinges on our ability to leverage an accepted notion that everything is broke, needs to be scrapped and replaced by newer and better shit.
The really powerful shit is what can be accomplished joining together with a universal consensus, driving a citizenry united towards common goals. This is what a corporation supposedly was for, but you see what happened with that shit.
To say shit is to hope and have a dream.
Still, this current era being of such a standard as to be the very times with the shit going on that certain ones such as economists and political scientists dream of......
......is to also notice the pain, Shit is a comment on the horrific suffering about to be endured.
When enough bloggers say shit and marketers advertise shit then shit will come out of the closet Zeitgeist.
This shit has happened since time in memorial. Consumers never notice this shit. This shit is already happening. in case you hadn't noticed it's a shitstorm out there right now.
Although it's true that the great man said that " A rose by any other name would smell as sweet" he never did work on a hog farm. Saying shit toughens us up so that we don't sweat the small stuff.
Shit, the sooner we call a spade a spade the better.
My apologies for a pretty shitty article. I was simply looking for honesty in a shitty world.
