"US Elections - The New Hollywood Fantasy Factory"

Sunday 14 September 2008 by Dan Beyer

Only the magnificently wealthy have the luxury of time and the presence of mind (free of distractions such as making this months mortgage and utility payments) required to analyze and ascertain which levers control which aspect of our lives, REALLY !

If Foreigners are investing in US Debt, will a domestic bout of Hyper Inflation that devalues our currency allow us to buy back our debt on the cheap?
-----------------------------------------------------------

Now for the humorous section;
Please follow the next 2 links and open them in new windows side by side for comparison.

First, look at Governor Palin - http://bittenandbound.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/gov-palin-2006_official.jpg

Now much to her chagrin look at Rosanne Barr - http://socialitelife.celebuzz.com/images/roseanne043007.jpg

Despite the obvious membership in the same gene pool this digression is nothing more than a minor amusement at Rosanne's expense. It would be easy to make the similarity in appearance the basis of humor but In reality Sarah Palin is anathema to Rosanne. See Rosanne's tirade at The Huffington Post: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/roseanne-barr/sarah-palin-and-the-women_b_124548.html

Adam Curry says that "politics is Hollywood for Ugly people". Well it is! Ok, Ok, let us appropriate that statement and modify it to say that Politics is Hollywood for the less attractive. How does that sit with you? It does bear a certain truthiness doesn't it?
_________________________________________________________
I would like to draw your attention to just a few of the issues
not initially apparent in the current Presidential Campaigns. Number One McCain is Blatantly Lying purveying half truths as well as outright falsehoods and misdirections. Deceit and deception is being deployed by the Republicans to great effect. There is as much or more racist code speak going on as there is gender code speak hitting the media. All this lipstick and fish talk! Say what? Semi Subliminal code speak is being planted in the Zeitgeist by skilled operatives and the talent (Candidates) are hitting their marks and saying their lines with great aplomb. So the impressions are being successfully planted in the public consciousness. Truthiness at best. The media appear to be unwitting accomplices in the successful dissemination of this *newspeak. Let us remember that Jesus Christ was a Community Organizer.

Additionally, The Republicans are making TV Commercials filled with untruths and innuendo that they have designed to air only 10X ! The real purpose of these TV Spots is to be picked up and discussed by the media, providing millions of dollars worth of free publicity in NEWSCASTS that reinforces the lies contained therein as truths.

Apparently large chunks of American Citizens don't read enough to investigate candidates records on their own and don't discover the truth for themselves. They believe the last sound byte that they almost heard in context.

I'd like to say that it is now public knowledge that Sarah Palin is an energetic, effervescent and charismatic student council candidate who forges ahead whether or not she is familiar with the subject at hand. She certainly can whip a crowd into a frenzy with platitudes, 1/2 truths and innuendo. The scariest thing in this is that the public seems to gravitate towards her despite the fact that she is a deceitful and deceptive liar. Even though Charlie Gibson lobbed softballs at her she came off as completely unqualified in foreign affairs. She seems Much to aggressive and arrogant when caution would seem to be called for. We like her anyway. We seem to have forgotten that John McCain is the candidate of significance while having imbued Sarah with all the qualities and characteristics required for election. It is possible that we will elect Palin/McCain and John will be perfectly happy with that as long as he gets in. It is all the Bush campaigns all over again. The only question the majority asks is, Who would you invite to your Barbecue? Is this the basis of who we will elect to the most powerful office in the land?

The race has all the earmarks of a promotional junket for a Hollywood Movie. Sound Bytes, carefully orchestrated, interviews by appointment and invitation only where the candidates are rehearsed and stand on the X in what amounts to a stage set are now de riguer. The Big Story of how access to the candidates is being controlled and scripted seems to have escaped the Press Corps.

I believe that I have seen McCain change from his more liberal maverick Stance quite awhile ago and I know I've seen Obama backpedal from his leftist platform even more recently. Obviously the international/Multinationals, The real powers that be, have gotten to both campaigns.Told them what tjhey can and cannot do. with the ceiling in place, The power behind the throne will now be happy with either party in the top spot.

I know it really only amounts to Lipstick On a PIG but I like the way the liberal illusion smells, it is much more fragrent, better, less fishy. It just strikes me that Obama's attempt indeed strives more for the high road and has all the appearance of being more egalitarian and hence more humane.

We will get the government that we deserve. As scripted as this Hollywood Election appears to be Palin/McCain seem to be a bit too happy, a bit too aggressive and much too arrogant. McCain who has been shown to own 9 homes is calling Obama an elitist. I will end my tyrade of ridulousness without commenting on Palin/McCain's enormous amount of deceit and deception and Obama's lesser amount of code speak (*Newspeak) by asking a question;

It seems to me that even though the powers that really rule the world would now be happy with either set of candidates, would not the world at large be more accepting of a US led by Obama?

Would not Obama put the best PR Face on US Foreign Policy allowing our business and social interests to gain more traction? I think he would excercise more caution in initiating or even maintaining a military solution. Certainly Palin/ McCain seems to go by the book. The Good Book that is. A guidebook written to advise social interaction millenia ago could be the basis of our government shortly. Now that scares the beeJesus right outA me!

Palin/McCain is drastically more of the same by a great preponderance of the evidence. How could you possibly think that both sets of candidates represent change. Talk about "lipstick on a pig" Palin/McCain invokes the power of the word change without meaning it. Bush Campaign Redux for sure. Once again we may be headed for a government led by the intellectually challenged and ill informed. Bush still can't comprehend why the Iraqui's reject democracy. It may only be a cursory difference but can't we do better than the student council president when it comes to running the biggest machine on the planet?
